Event Details

Our Katrina 10th Anniversary Program will be a three part series; Katrina Voices.

Part I of our series will be held from May to July, 2015. Come out and help us create a 192 piece 'no sew' Katrina Community Quilt; "And We Are Still Standing".

Series II will be held from June to August, 2015. Walking Tours: Visit Exhibits expressing tragedy and triumph; Photographs captured by award winning Louisiana Photo Journalist, and Artist A.J. Sisco; and author /Photographer, Thomas Neff. There will also be an art exhibit by the Baker High School Fine Arts Department where Mr. Brandon Lewis is the Department Head. Powerful "before' and "after" colorful shots chronicling the seven parishes most heavily impacted by Katrina's destruction. Visitors may journal on the" Katrina Wall of Tweets and Memories", and in our" Katrina Book of Memories".

Series III: August 29, 2015. Katrina panel discussion and guest speaker, Dr. Cheryl Taylor, Chair of Graduate Nursing Program at Southern University.

Reception with Audrey Ferguson and the Gospel Voices of Distinction will be 11 am to 2 pm
