Event Details

Note the time change. Enjoy a family-friendly festival featuring the many cultures that make up the great Baton Rouge melting pot.  Between 11:00am-4:00pm, on Saturday, July 30, visit the Greenwell Springs Road Regional Library Branch and become immersed in an afternoon of amazing learning experiences. .  Vocal and instrumental performerances, dances,  crafts,  doll making demonstrations, face painting! and hands on art experiences have all been planned with you and your family in mind.  Just to name a few, performances include those by IGBO Nation, the skillful Children of Reed and Reed Consultants, the Japan Club, Les Danseurs de la Capitale de Baton Rouge, and the ever popular Belly Dancers. Tour exhibits and talk with representatives of diverse culture, robed in their exquisitely designed and brilliantly colored native garb. Visiting cultural groups will interact with the public as they sing, provide instrumental performances,  perform their native dances, share samples of their cuisines, memorabilia, and engage you in a stimulating discussion about their cultural traditions.  Library staff  have planned hands-on cultural craft experiences for children, teens and the young at heart.  More hands-on  painting workshops will take place with local artist, professor and community servant, Randell Henry.  Stop by our face painting booth and by all means our delectable food court.
