April Pou hails from Baton Rouge, LA. She is a mom, a college student, published poet and business owner. As a Louisianan she loves the outdoors and good food. Her book, Battered Not Broken: A Complicated Love Affair, is a gripping fictional tale set in hometown of Baton Rouge. She is also the founder & CEO of Pretty Grinders, LLC established in January 2016. Pretty Grinders is a networking and entrepreneur empowerment organization. Pretty Grinders is a movement that aims to; educate, empower and expose entrepreneur minded women to the proper resources to excel in their side hustles & to link women together who have the same goals in mind, SUCCESS. Most recently, in April of 2016; April signed on with an up and coming publishing house Kindred Soul Publications.

April intends to make her mark on the world by using her pen. Tackling mainstream, cultural issues, and controversial topics; such as men on the down-low, domestic violence and successful Black men feeling as though being with a Black woman is unseemly. Her aim is not to judge, but simply create an open a dialogue, which will challenge people’s way of thinking and spark healthy debate.                                                                        -April Pou
