ACT Practice Test Packets will be available for teens and/or the parents to pick up in the Teens section of the library on the Teen Info Desk.

Come to Eden Park and pick up a Grab & Geaux bag.  In this bag, you will learn how to create your own Louisiana themed string art. Bags will be available all month long, while supplies last.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! Come find all the storybook children and animals, who just visited their local library, hiding in the Fairwood Branch Library. Can you help us find all of them? Find all of the hiding children and animals for a chance to win one of our guessing game prizes! Children who participate will be entered into weekly drawings during the entire month of September.

The weather outside is frightful, but the library is so delightful.  Walking just 30 minutes every day can increase cardiovascular fitness, strengthen bones, reduce excess body fat, and boost muscle power and endurance, but getting your steps in during record heat or pouring rain is difficult.  Come to the Pride-Chaneyville Branch Library and walk in the cool air conditioning.  Walk by yourself or with a small group of friends.  We have measured three areas: the “inside loop” is 145 steps or 1/16 of a mile, “against the wall” is 280 steps or 1/8 of a mile, and the “serpentine” is 565 steps or ¼ mile.  There are also exercise stations scattered throughout the library.

20 Somethings can grab a kit to make a Halloween inspired suncatcher! 

Come into the Children's Room any time during this period leading up to Halloween night, and play our Guessing Game. Try to guess how many googly eyes are in the jar! Whoever has the closest to the correct amount will win a prize. For children ages 1 to 11. Limited to one guess per child.

  Our favorite book characters are going to the theatre! Can you help us find them all? In this fun scavenger hunt, children will search the Children's Room to find 10 hidden pictures of selected book characters, whose stories will be performed live at the Manship Theatre. Children who participate will be entered into weekly drawings for a small prize during the month of November AND, for a limited time only, a drawing for a chance to win tickets to see "The Rainbow Fish" show at the Manship Theatre!

During the month of November, come to the Pride-Chaneyville library to work on a harvest puzzle as we “Fall” towards family gatherings and Thanksgiving!
