Virtual Footlocker Project - Navy (Officers)

3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Event Details

A virtual event by the Virtual Footlocker Project (VFP) and LSU's School of Library & Information Science for veterans and active duty military members...

Past generations of airmen, sailors, marines, and soldiers documented their wartime experiences in diaries, photographs and correspondence. Veterans often passed those collections down to family members, museums or archives. These treasured personal accounts serve a vital role in humanizing wartime sacrifices and experiences. But how can this generation's tweets, posts and photos be preserved for history? That's what the Virtual Footlocker Project (VFP) intends to find out the best way to collect and save those memories. To begin its research, VFP is conducting focus groups to explore how 21st century military personnel document their time in service, communicate with friends and family while deployed and how they preserve these memories.

The VFP team is looking for active duty and recent veterans to participate in a 1.5-hour group discussion about their use of social and digital media in the service.

Focus groups will be held online using Zoom. Visit virtualfootlocker.com/focus-groups to register and learn more.
